Fundraise

From sponsored runs to film nights and cake sales, fundraising is a brilliant way to support Ella’s.

Your fundraising will raise the money that’s crucial to help Ella’s reach more survivors of trafficking and exploitation. It will also grow awareness of the impact of modern slavery, and can inspire others to take action. And it can be fun and rewarding – you get to choose exactly what you do.

Create your own fundraiser

A step-by-step guide

1. Choose what to do

Popular fundraising activities include sponsored runs, swims, cycles and so on, but you can get sponsored for whatever challenge or activity you choose. You can sign up for an organised event or just do your own thing if you’d prefer. If you’d rather not go down the sponsorship route, you could hold a cake sale or coffee morning, or make items to sell and donate the proceeds to Ella’s.

2. Register your fundraiser on Just Giving so it’s easy for you to collect sponsors and donations.

We can provide some information about Ella’s for you to use and adapt for your fundraising page. Email us at fundraising@ellas.org.uk if you’d like us to share this with you. If you hold a sale or raise money another way, you can transfer it after the event or use the ‘donate funds raised offline’ option on JustGiving.

3. Let us know that you’re fundraising for us!

Email us at fundraising@ellas.org.uk. We’d love to support you if we can, say thank you, and maybe share your story on our website or social media if you’re happy for us to do so.

4. Tell everyone you know.

Use social media/email/word of mouth to tell everyone you know about your fundraiser, and ask them to sponsor you or attend your event. Sometimes, local press - newspapers, magazines, websites and so on – are interested when people are doing things for charity. If you want to give this a go, drop us an email and we can help with a template for you to adapt for your fundraiser. We have some pre-made posters you can share on socials or hang in your gym, whether you’re running, hiking or baking for us.

5. All that’s left to do is whatever planning you need to complete your fundraiser, and then to enjoy it on the day.

Get some photos if you can, and email them to fundraising@ellas.org.uk. We’d love to see them.

Becca’s Marathon Madness

Becca completed two marathons over two weekends in support of survivors, overcoming tendonitis and more to smash the challenge and raise £1,300 for survivors.

‘This is about me doing something for other women,’ Becca told us just before the first run.

‘When you realise that you are not alone, you share the strength to make it through the day, to build yourself up and flourish.’

Young girl holding a book

Olive’s story

Olive (9) wrote a book about her experiences during covid-19, with royalties donated to Ella’s.

‘I chose Ella’s because the women they support have been through horrible experiences...’, says Olive.

‘Like children, their voices are being heard less than others during the pandemic. And their freedoms have been even more limited. I want to raise as much money as possible for Ella’s.’

Olive has raised more than £170. We helped her with a press release, and her story was featured on ITV News and in the local newspaper. Go Olive!

Donate your occasion

It's good to celebrate. And by donating your occasion to Ella's, your celebration could change lives.

Pledge your birthday, anniversary, wedding or other occasion to Ella's, and help unlock freedom among women who've survived trafficking and exploitation.

1. Set up your fundraiser on JustGiving.

You could donate any occasion to Ella’s, your birthday, anniversary, wedding, graduation or something else. You can set up a fundraising page here, with your own photos and message.

2. Share your page with friends and family.

In the run up to your occasion, share your fundraising page with friends and family, telling them that you’d love them to donate instead of buying cards, gifts and drinks. They can leave messages along with their donations, so it will still feel personal.

3. Let us know if we can help.

If you have any questions or problems donating your occasion, just email us at fundraising@ellas.org.uk and we’ll be happy to help. We can also provide more information about Ella’s if you need it for your page/celebration event. We could even send a speaker from Ella’s, if you’re having a big event.

4. Enjoy your occasion.

It’s that simple. All that’s left to do is enjoy your occasion! We’d love to hear stories and see photos from your see photos if you take any, just email them to fundraising@ellas.org.uk
