Halimot’s journey
Halimot is an incredible woman, full of determination and strength. We have worked with her for a number of years and supported her as she has overcome many obstacles due to an unfair start in life.
She has overcome unimaginable adversity, from being trafficked into Europe at just aged 9, to be where she is now: a thriving entrepreneur running her own successful cake-making business, Haliberry Cake.
Halimot x TRIBE
Fast forward a few years, she was invited by TRIBE - one of our longest-standing corporate partners - to help create their newest flavour. She came up with the Banoffee Choc Chip protein bar!
The biggest supermarkets have been stocking this bar for sometime now. But last year Co-op invited Halimot, the TRIBE team and Emily to compete in a dragon den style event to win some added promotion. Needless to say the judges loved Halimot’s bar, and were so moved by the way she told her story, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.
This resulted in last month, a local Co-op store being taken over to promote the bar in a big way. The store was covered in posters. Along with the TRIBE team, we had the opportunity to speak with customers, hand out free bars for tasting (which went down a storm), and celebrate the occasion with a banoffee chocolate triple-tier cake baked by Halimot for the occasion, it was absolutely delicious!
It was an incredibly emotional moment and a powerful reflection of just how far Halimot has come and all she has achieved.
“I stood outside the store and saw my face on the wall…attached to a product I created. For a moment, I just stood there smiling… but deep down I was emotional because people don’t always see the full story behind moments like this. This moment meant more than words can explain.
Thank you TRIBE for proving that survivor voices deserve to be seen and celebrated too.”
We are incredibly grateful at Ella’s to receive 25% of profits from the TRIBE Banoffee Choc Chip Protein bar which will go directly towards supporting other women like Halimot as they recover and rebuild their lives.
We’d like to thank TRIBE for their hard work and relentless commitment to doing business with purpose. We’d also like to thank Halimot, for her determination to give back and lift up the women in our community.
