A day out to the farm

During the school holidays, Ella's took a group of women and children to Mudchute Farm on the Isle of Dogs for a day out.

Nestled in the heart of London, Mudchute Farm offered the perfect escape from city life, giving families the chance to enjoy fresh air, explore open space, and get up close with animals — all with free entry. For many of the families we support, opportunities like this are few and far between, making the day all the more meaningful.

The children had a brilliant time, and it was a good reminder that some of the most valuable experiences don't need to be complicated or costly.

For some of the women Ella's supports, getting on public transport alone is a real challenge. Trips like this one provide a gentle and supported way to build that confidence — travelling together as a group, navigating the city, and arriving somewhere new. It clearly had an impact. One of the women looked up Mudchute Farm on Google Maps before she'd even left, already planning how she'd get back on her own another time.

We are hugely grateful to Mudchute Farm for providing such a wonderful, welcoming space, and for making days like this possible for the woman and families we support.
